FASTER THAN LIGHT: Trader from Qefa
Sometimes you have to buy what you want, especially if it's something like faster than light (FTL) technology.
The problem? No Human has it. The engineering does not exist, not on Earth anyway.
Heim-Dröscher physics is sound through eight dimensions. It works.
Derick Rogers understands Heim-Dröscher, but the math that would take FTL from theory to starships was beyond him.
He works on the moon at a Consortium-run research station on the edge of Shackleton Crater where no one can bother him. He prefers working alone. He likes routine.
The aliens from Qefa have been on the moon since before Neil Armstrong, watching and learning. They prefer to study science in peace, but they want access to Earth's biome. They made their presence known to Shackleton Director Douglas Gentry for the sole purpose of gaining exclusive, contracted access to it, and are willing to trade FTL in exchange.
Can the Consortium keep the idea of an FTL drive secret?
Can a billionaire's money force a compromise?
Read Merchants of Light #1 today, a hard science fiction novel where math and engineering merge with the world of interstellar commerce. Will any Human win the holy grail of being first to have FTL flight?
